Seomyeon is a very upscale shopping district. It is centered by a traffic circle with five boulevards radiating out, and is home to Lotte Department Store and Hotel as well as other upscale shopping. It is also a transportation hub, being served by both Line 1 and Line 2 of the subway system.

A sad reality in modern-day South Korea is that cosmetic surgery is a must for young women. Confucian social hierarchy dictates a hiring process that puts age, sex, marital status, the name of the school that issued one's diploma/degree, and even physical appearance, ahead of real work ability as primary qualifications for a given job. As it is expected that one attach a photograph to the job application and/or a curricula vitae (which would also list the applicant's National ID, gender, marital status, and for an extra demonstration of responsibility, number of children), looking presentable (whatever that means) is a must.

Sure enough, every floor of these two adjacent buildings, seen in Seomyeon, houses a cosmetic surgeon.
