Hi Eti15TrSf. Thanks for your contributions to pages about Shanghai Metro stations! I would like to remind you that 1. please do not replace the floor map with floor-indication texts that don't have consistent alignments with other components, and especially do not use "G" for ground-level since it is rarely used in Mainland China; 2. please do not remove the text "Station/站" in the infobox because different rail systems adopt different standards.
Yours Sincerely.
- Hello MNXANL, all I am doing is cleaning the layout and updating the timetable. I removed the term station because Beijing Subway articles do not have that. Also please don't revert helpful edits I make, such as cleaning the station layout.
- Please stop (at least deter) doing so for the reasons listed above, and respond to my second point with the reasons why you think such cleaning of the station layout(s) is good. Continuing with your own mind without making consensus with other contributors might be a violation of the Wikipedia community guidelines MNXANL 貢獻 討論 2020年11月29日 (日) 05:03 (UTC)
- What I am doing is removing unnessecary syntax and words from the layout. For example I noticed that there is a 4th columm with absolutely no text so I think its best to remove it completely. Besides nobody else has an issue besides you.
- Apparently there are rightward icons...I mean it is fine to put them on the left to the direction-indication text but it makes more sense with the original versions. Plus, please be aware of the WP:CIVIL guideline and do not make reckless accusations and start Wikipedia:EDITWAR.
- I'm trying to discuss with you. I'll agree with leaving "站" in the infobox, as it was the original way. However, reverting cleanup edits are just absurd. There is nothing wrong with removing useless syntax, and I have been working with them a lot since I started wikipedia.
- I just need a "REASON" that could refute the claim about "cleanup" I made before: I just don't understand how's that syntax useless? I think they indicate the direction better and express the relationship with the surrounding facilities. Plus I haven't reverted any of your new "cleanups" once I started this discussion.
- And your claims about North-south order don't make sense, I will leave it to the community to decide.
- Like I said one of the things I removed was the 4th columm, with often has zero text and is just a waste. This is an example. As for the north-south issue, the direction should be the same. Some stations like Hanzhong Road show Fujin Road as going left and Xinzhuang as going right. Others like Jinjiang park show Xinzhuang as going left and Fujin Road as going right. Because Fujin Road is the northern terminal, I think it should always be the one going left. Also, there is no need to type in all caps here.
- 4th Column does include icons, if you remove that simply because you believe that is a waste, I doubt that for the reasons I said above. Your claim "the northern terminal...should always be the one going left" isn't well-justified, I still insist that layouts based on bearing make more sense to readers. When we make changes, we should always think about how it can benefit our readers.
- And your point is? You make absolutely no sense. How is it going to benefit our readers. Having inconsistencies between directions is actually opposite of what "our readers want". It is just going to cause more confusion, as usually a reader would click on a certain direction, but if you make it opposite, navigation would be a lot confusing. There should be consistency within articles. Line 1 is a north-south line. Naturally the northbound direction would be facing left, and the southbound direction would face right. However some articles don't follow the convention. All I am doing is fixing this error.
- Having a navigation-oriented layout won't really confuse our readers since there are many indicators (in the infobox, in the bottom templates) that show the adjacent stations and primary directions, thus your claim about "consistency" doesn't really hold water. SHM Line 1 isn't strictly North-South, the segment south to People's Square is more a Northeast-Southwest, and the segment between South Shanghai Railway Station and Xinzhuang is almost East-West. In 外環路站, you had a "南站廳" on the top of the "北站廳", how's that "consistent" to normal people's recognition of the map's orientation? We need to be more adaptive to it.
- And your point is? It doesn't matter anyway because line 1 is a north south line, period. At Waihuanlu and Lianhua Road, the north concourse is connected to the southbound platform, and vice versa. See this Baidu map.

- If neither of us can make any concessions, I think it is good to look at what official SHM station maps illustrate. If you have trouble accessing Shanghai Metro's website, you can download the Shanghai Metro DADUHUI app and check the station information (layout maps and timetables). However, it seems that they also don't have a consistent standard: I do admit that maps for some stations (like 外環路站) northbound platform is placed over the southbound, but sometimes the southbound track is being illustrated over the northbound one for stations like 衡山路站. If we cannot make a consensus, just follow what official Shanghai Metro maps have no matter what either of us thinks. Do you think that sounds like a better solution?
